We have constructed a ‘church’ that is bounded, by the walls of our buildings. ie to be a member you have to “come in” and be ‘inside’. If you are outside you do not belong. So there is a clearly defined boundary between those who belong and those who do not. This is not the model we see in Jesus ministry. His community was one of an ever expanding concentric circles all centred on him. The inner 3 (Peter, James, John) then the 12, then the 72. Then the the large number of those who followed him around and listened etc but didn’t necessarily believe in him. There was no clearly defined boundary between those who were in and those not. The Jesus community merged into, and constantly interacted with the general community. So must ‘Unbounded Church’ be.
