One of the constant problems I have is trying to explain that the ’Unbounded Church’ is a ‘Concept’ not a model. To really grasp this means understanding that the principles for Christian Community found in the New Testament can be expressed in a multitude of different ways. This means that a wide variety of designer Missional Communities can be constructed in many forms for the Kaleidoscope of ‘Live, Work and Play’ cultural micro-communities now comprising western society. This concept seems to be however very hard to grasp for many even allegedly well taught Christians and even church leaders.
So it was a great joy to be at a recent seminar at which a range of speakers described for us a very wide spectrum of Unbounded Church Missional Community expressions that they were involved in. These ranged from Communities for intellectually disabled adults, through those for quite dysfunctional adults in deprived areas, ones constructed out of existing Playgroups, and Communities developed in interest groups such as a ‘Self Defence’ class and a ‘Board Game’ group. In addition to this we heard about groups in Pubs, Clubs and Coffee shops.
In fact, there was what might be called a ‘Beautiful Spectrum’ of Missional Communities being demonstrated, something indeed to give thanks to God for.

Adding to the reason to celebrate is the fact that such communities have a much higher percentage of Unchurched and De-churched people joining them, six to eight times that of standard local churches.
It was so good to hear of the ‘Beautiful Spectrum’ of Unbounded Church expressions, impacting our godless society and drawing people to Christ Jesus. Praise God.
