The View from the Bridge

Ship cruising along, passengers full,
Ease and comfort were expected to be,
But blind eyes were turned to the dangerous sea.

I went up to the Bridge, but there was no one there,
The place for the Helmsman, it was bare.
Charts for Navigation were lying around,
but readers of them not to be found

Alarms were sounding, but drowned by noise of parties below,
Cruising was for comfort after all
And only wowsers would spoil the show!

I went to the Bridge, but there was no one there,
Blind eyes turned to the dangerous sea.
But from the forward view window one thing was clear,
The Iceberg is much larger than this time last year!
